Rabat – Morocco has once again distinguished itself in Arabic academic competitions, claiming six prizes at the 13th edition of the Arab Robotics Championship, Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports announced yesterday.
The tournament took place between July 1 and 4 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Moroccan team “GDGRS Stars” from Khouribga won first place in the “core values” category, and Moroccan team “Girls 13Novembre” from Khenifra placed third in the “innovation project category.”
The “High Atlas Club” team from Taroudant won first place in the “most motivated team” category, as well as third place in the “robot performance” category.
In addition, Morocco’s “Avatar” team placed third in the “Breaking through” category.
The championship saw the participation of over 650 students, representing 136 teams from 12 Arab countries: Egypt, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, and Morocco.
The competition seeks “to encourage participants to take an interest in technology, science, mathematics, engineering, programming, and artificial intelligence,” Morocco’s Ministry of Education said.
The tournament also aims to promote “robot culture and its role in education in the Arab world,” the ministry added.

Egypt ranked first in the competition and Jordan came second, while Libya, Qatar, and Iraq tied for third place.
Morocco also achieved spectacular results at the 29th edition of the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad, after ranking first in both the individual and team categories. The competition took place in Benguerir, Morocco between June 19 and June 28.
Last month, UAE’s Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the launch of the Arab Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence challenge (IoT & AI) in 11 Arab countries, including Morocco.
