Rabat – Morocco’s National Office For Electricity and Water announced that the Nador region will face disruptions in the supply of drinking water that could even lead to water being cut off.
The disruptions are part of the drought that’s been experienced in the eastern regions or Morocco, the office explained, adding that these disruptions could happen on a daily basis and extend from midnight until 8AM.
The office urged citizens to take the necessary measures in the face of the decreased supply, and try to minimize consumption of drinking water.
Morocco has been seeing a decline in its drinking water supplies this year, due to a steep decrease in rainfall throughout the year that led to the worst drought in decades.

The cities of Berrechid and Settat recently also had their drinking water supplies limited, with rationing put in place at night to limit usage.
Additionally, car washes have been ordered to close throughout the country, in another measure to lessen water usage, although car wash owners have complained about the lack of any support programs in the meantime.
Meanwhile, citizens have continued to voice protests online, calling on the government to halt water usage in more lavish and unnecessary places like hotel swimming pools before limiting ordinary citizens’ drinking water rations.
