Join on Telegram Rabat – Morocco’s King Mohammed VI will address the nation today on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People.
Morocco’s Ministry of Royal Household, Protocol, and the Chancellery confirmed earlier that the royal speech will be broadcasted on radio and television tonight at 9 p.m.
Falling on August 20, the Moroccan revolution of the King and the People commemorates the forced exile of King Mohammed V which started on August 20, 1953, and lasted until November 16, 1955.
The day is a celebration of Morocco’s national and anti-colonial struggle in the face of the French Protectorate regime.
It also revives the common memory of the connection of the Moroccan nationalist movement with the late King Mohammed V who was and remains the face and symbol of resistance and the national will for freedom and independence.
The dream came true in 1956, laying the ground for a modern Moroccan economy, political system, society, and culture.
In the spirit of celebration, 542 convicts received the royal pardon on Friday including 433 detainees and 109 convicts with a provisional release.
