Rabat – King Mohammed VI is scheduled to deliver a speech today, August 20, marking the 68th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People.
The King will address the nation at 9 pm this evening.
The speech will be broadcast on Morocco’s radio and television stations.
Moroccans celebrate the day to honor and pay tribute to the heroic struggles and resistance against colonialism.
During his speech last year to commeratore the 67th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, King Mohammed VI recalled the sincere patriotism and commitment of all Moroccans to the values of sacrifice, solidarity, and loyalty.
“The history of our country is replete with timeless events and actions which attest to strong cohesion between the throne and the people in facing hardships,” the King said in his 2020 speech.
The King also emphasized Moroccans’ commitments to the same values and principles during the campaign against COVID-19.
“Despite the efforts made so far, we have not yet won the battle against this epidemic. Needless to say, these are difficult, unprecedented times for everyone,” the monarch warned.
Both today and tomorrow are national holidays.
