Rabat – Moroccan international football star Achraf Hakimi has been selected as “Moroccans’ favorite celebrity.”
The selection took place yesterday, during the fifth edition of “Les Imperiales” — an annual event focusing on new technology in Morocco — held from September 19 to 25 in Casablanca.
This section comes as a result of a study conducted by Imperium, by sampling 3,500 people. The data was gathered through a survey in six Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Fez, and Marrakech, representing 55% of the Moroccan population.
During the same awards ceremony, Moroccan telecommunication company Inwi was chosen as Moroccans’ favorite brand, securing the “Love Brand 2022” trophy.
The telecom operator was featured ahead of the historical operator Maroc Telecom, which occupied the second position in the ranking.
In the top 5 of the favorite brands among Moroccans are also Marjane (3rd), CIH (4th), and Afriquia (5th).

Hakimi is a professional footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan National Football Team, the Atlas Lions.”
He was born to two Moroccan parents in Spain, where he grew up.
Hakimi joined Real Madrid’s academy from Colonia Ofigevi in 2006, when he was just eight years old.
When he joined Real Madrid in 2006, his talent quickly became evident to local and international football experts.
Hakimi thus became one of the most popular young Moroccan football players among Moroccans, as he consistently made them proud.
According to the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES), Hakimi is the most expensive player in Africa, in terms of his estimated transfer value.
Earlier this year, the Paris Saint-Germain star was listed among the top transfers of 2021, according to the FIFA Global Transfer Report.
He was ranked in the third position of last year’s most valuable transfers, after his record-breaking transfer from Serie A’s Inter Milan to French giant PSG.
Commemorating his international achievements, Hakimi was also featured this year in the final list of African footballers nominated for the “Player of the Year” award of the 2022 CAF Awards.
With the next World Cup rapidly approaching, Moroccans are hoping that their Moroccan hero will perform well, extending his string of remarkable victories and accomplishments.
