Rabat – Morocco’s Consulate General in New York has opened a series of hotlines as part of its support for the Moroccan community in Florida facing hurricane Ian.
Millions of Florida residents have been reeling from the situation after a harrowing night. Hurricane Ian brought wind, rain, and storm, which cut power for millions of residents and knocked over many houses.
In a gesture of support, the general consulate said that it has been following the difficult climate conditions in Florida closely, voicing its solidarity with all members of the Moroccan community in Florida.
The consulate also put in place a series of telephone lines to receive any potential requests for help if necessary.

US President Joe Biden said he spoke to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to discuss “the steps we’re taking to support Florida in response to Hurricane Ian. “
Biden also issued a warning, urging oil companies to not use the storm as a justification to raise gasoline prices.
The Hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm on Thursday morning, but not before causing devastating damage to public properties and residents’ houses.
