An Egyptian man shockingly killed a 19-year-old woman after she reportedly refused his marriage proposal on Saturday in the Menofia Governorate in northern Egypt.
The 29-year-old perpetrator was identified as Ahmad Fathi Ameriah, Al Arabiya reported today, adding that he shot Amani Abdul Karim al Gazzar after she and her family rejected his engagement proposal.
An excellent student at the Faculty of Physical Education, the victim reportedly refused the man’s proposal because of his “bad behavior.”
The killing of Amani left many Egyptians reeling in frustration, furore, and shock as a similar case recently happened in Al Mansoura.
In June, another man killed university student Nayera Ashraf in Al Mansura, a city in the Dakahlia Governorate, after she rejected his marriage proposal in a busy street in front of Al Mansoura University.

The killer of Ashraf’s killer, pleaded guilty and admitted to stabbing his victim several times on her neck and chest. He also confessed to killing the woman after a dispute broke out between them when she rejected his marriage proposal.
the Al Mansura Criminal Court sentenced the man to the death penalty for intentional murder in July, and the court called for a legal amendment to allow the live broadcast of the death penalty for Ashraf’s murder.
