Rabat – Morocco’s Court of First Instance in Temara near Rabat sentenced an influencer and her husband to two years in prison each.
The influencer known as “Fatiha Routini Al Yawmi” and her husband received the sentence on Wednesday evening.
The court’s ruling came after the couple was arrested for posting a video on TikTok that contained what many called disturbing and explicit images.
Fatiha and her husband were arrested on October 17. Fatiha’s lawyer asked the court to allow a medical examination to check on her mental health, Le360 reported.
The couple’s children will stay with Fatiha’s sister, the court ruled.
Many internet users expressed outrage after the couple posted the video. Many also called for the couple’s arrest, arguing that they set a bad example for children and youth.
Meanwhile, Moroccan controversial rapper ElGrande Toto, whose real name is Taha Fassi, expressed support for the influencer amid backlash.
