Casablanca – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed this week, by decree, Saenko Sergey Valeryevich as the new ambassador of Kiev to Morocco.
Valeryevich will replace Oksana Vasylieva Yuriivna, who was recalled to Ukraine due to her “inability to defend the interests” of Kiev.
The new ambassador previously served as a Deputy Director of the Department of the European Union and NATO, as well as Head of the Department of Justice and Internal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
By another decree, the Ukrainian president named Miroslav Kastran as ambassador to Slovakia. The diplomat previously served as consul in New York, and then as head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ State Protocol Department.
As the conflict with Russia continues, Zelenskyy also decided to dismiss his representative to Kazakhstan Petro Vrublevsky, following statements he made in an interview on August 21.
Speaking about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Vrublevsky stated that the Ukrainian side was attempting to “kill as many Russian invaders as possible” in order to reduce Ukrainian deaths.

Morocco and Ukraine continue to maintain good relations, which Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba hailed during his last meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita.
“Ukraine and Morocco have friendly bilateral relations, and we hope to strengthen them further in all areas, including food security, trade recovery, and cooperation in international organizations,” Kuleba wrote on Twitter after the meeting.
Throughout the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, Morocco has emphasized a policy of non-interference.
The North African country was “following with concern the evolution of the situation” in order to stay updated about the conflict, which was having a detrimental impact on Morocco’s economy.
