Rabat – England’s national football team will play against Iran as part of the 2022 Qatar World Cup group stage.
The game, which marks Group B’s first match, will kick off today at 14:00 Moroccan time at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The match will be broadcast on beIN Sports channels and BBC One, and can also be streamed live on BBC iPlayer.
Since the match is England and Iran’s first game in the competition, both teams are looking to assert their position during the group phase.
Optimism is high among England’s Three Lions, who are keen to offer a strong performance.
“We have trust in each other and just trust in the process,” English football player Raheem Sterling said yesterday during his appearance on the Lions’ Den show.
The English national team has contested 16 World Cups, but won the global event just once in 1966.

Iran’s coach Carlos Queiroz said: “The new generation that Gareth Southgate is bringing for the national team, in my opinion, is probably the most talented, most competitive English national team since 1966.”
Meanwhile, Iran has qualified six times for the World Cup; in 1978, 1998, 2006, 2014, 2018, and 2022. But they have never progressed beyond the group stage.
Sunday marked the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup. The ceremony took place at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar, and featured several international artists and performers, including South Korean pop singer Jungkook and Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi.
