Rabat – Lebanon’s Foreign Affairs Minister Abdallah Bou Habib renewed his country’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over Western Sahara.
The diplomat made his remarks in a joint statement following talks with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita in Fez on the sidelines of the 9th Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations of the UN (UNAOC).
The Lebanese official also reaffirmed his country’s rejection of all separatist groups which threaten the unity and security of states, while welcoming the “fraternal relations uniting” between the two countries.
Habib also expressed gratitude for Morocco’s support and solidarity, recalling King Mohammed VI’s humanitarian gesture following the Beirut explosion that hit Lebanon in 2020. Under King Mohammed VI’s instruction, Morocco sent eight flights to Lebanon loaded with medical aid to assist the victims of the Beirut explosion.
In 2021, Morocco also sent food aid to Lebanon as the country grappled with intertwined political, economic, and health crises.
Habib described the support as “generous,” emphasizing that Morocco “always stands by Lebanon’s side and supports its just causes.”
