France won the Russia World Cup in 2018 for the second time after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
Meanwhile, Australia has qualified for the global tournament on six occasions, including the 2018 World Cup, but the team did not progress beyond the group stage.
French player and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was absent from the match, he was ruled out of the World Cup due to injury, months after winning the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
“Karim Benzema was forced to cut short the collective training session after feeling pain in the quadriceps of his left thigh,” said the French Football Federation in a statement.
The draw placed France and Australia in Group D, alongside Tunisia and Denmark. Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles and Denmark’s squad faced off today at the Education City Stadium, and the match ended with a 0-0 draw.
Both teams produced a spectacular performance, proving to be tough opponents.
