Rabat- The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa has said that King Mohammed VI’s royal reception of the Atlas Lions will go down in the annals of Moroccan football history.

In an interview with network channel Arryadia, Lekjaa emphasized that King Mohammed VI has always supported sports, athletes, and young people to achieve the best feats.

The FRMF president reiterated that the royal reception held in honor of the Atlas Lions‘ historic achievement demonstrates King Mohammed VI’s support for youth and athletes.

“Having accomplished this achievement, Morocco has demonstrated its leadership in Africa, and the Arab world” he said, adding that “the victories have highlighted the ancient Moroccan civilization, which has always united different religions and civilizations.”

The statement explained that Moroccan supporters have “perfectly illustrated” values around the world.

Thousands of fans took to Rabat’s streets to celebrate the Atlas Lions.

The president of the FRMF also highlighted the presence of the players’ mothers at the royal reception (the majority of whom live abroad), noting that Moroccan have again managed to “embody the cohesion” between the public and the monarchy.

Lekjaa stated, “These are the traditions of the great people under the wise leadership of a great King.”

On Tuesday, December 20, King Mohammed VI received the Moroccan national football team at the Royal Palace in Rabat in recognition of their historic achievement in the Qatar World Cup.
