Healthcare Staff: Morocco Reiterates Commitment to ‘Participatory’ Approach

Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection is committed to using a “participatory approach” that seeks to advance the implementation of reforms in the healthcare system.

Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb responded to the false information, claiming that Morocco has not fulfilled its previous promises to protect the achievements of health workers, according to Morocco’s news agency MAP.

The ministry has reassured healthcare workers by declaring that the legal arsenal will be changed to fit the new approach that aims to reform the health sector.

This new approach is based on the principles of the social state that are mentioned in the legal framework 21-09 which relates to the protection of health workers and their achievements.

The ministry promises to ensure all of the application decrees for the projects that will be approved and carried out in the correct manner.

The reforms will be implemented following a dialogue and listening to the opinions and suggestions of social actors, who act as powerful allies in the transformation of the national health system.

In this regard, the ministry of health emphasizes that these claims are “totally unfounded” and “against the orientations and convictions” of the ministry toward its executives and workers, who play a key role in the reform projects that Morocco is relying on to make the expected progress in the health field.

According to the same source, representatives of professional trade unions, and political bodies within the parliamentary institution can always discuss, and adjust to draft texts. The final version will proceed to the voting and approval process and then implemented.
