Rabat – Amid reports that Sevilla’s forward Youssef En-Nesyri could join English Premier League team West Ham in this winter transfer window, the Moroccan footballer has announced his desire to stay loyal to his Spanish club.
In the wake of the West Ham rumors, En-Nesyri and his agency have confirmed that the English club has indeed tried multiple times to sign him.
The official statement from En-Nesyri’s agency read: “I thank all the clubs that have contacted my agent, but at the moment I want to have my head only in Sevilla. It’s not a money issue, but a sporting issue.”
The athlete continued to pledge his loyalty to Sevilla, saying: “I want to help the team in their worst moment. We have a large side and I am sure that we are going to get out of this situation.”
In addition, he noted that he has had the “opportunity to leave on many occasions,” but he still chose to stay.
“They need us all. There’s still time left,” the player said, referring to the team’s next three games and that he knows the team would “give it their all.”
Prior to his statement, the rumors assumed that En-Nesyri was going to leave Sevilla this winter.
The 25-year old Moroccan player has not had the strongest few years playing for Sevilla, with some sports outlets claiming that this last season was “particularly poor.”
The Spanish side is struggling at the bottom of La Liga, Spain’s top-tier football league.
En-Nesyri was reportedly offered 30 million euros by West Ham in the 2020-2021 season when he scored 24 goals (18 in La Liga and six in the champions).
