Rabat – Morocco and Bahrain signed six bilateral cooperation agreements on Thursday relating notably to industry and trade, during the fifth session of the Morocco-Bahrain High Commission.

The session was chaired by Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The first agreement was dedicated to improving industrial cooperation between the two countries, encouraging the exchange of expertise and knowledge, as well as cooperation between the public and private sectors.

The second agreement focused on standardization to make standards consistent between the two countries, while another agreement pertained to improving consumer protection in both countries.

Notably, the two countries agreed to improve trade cooperation by increasing the volume of trade as well as removing obstacles that stand in its way between the two states.

The two countries pledged to work to encourage private sector cooperation and work between different governmental institutions and committees related to trade.

The agreement also contained a program for cooperation in traditional craftsmanship, including through training programs and expertise sharing.

Finally, the pair signed an agreement to cooperate in the field of Islamic affairs, through a series of meetings and conferences to work on combating extremism and nurturing more tolerance.

Bahrain also praised the role of Morocco’s King Mohammed VI in achieving sustainable development in Africa, as well as efforts to maintain peace on the continent.

The Kingdom additionally hailed the Moroccan monarch’s efforts to defend the city of Al-Quds, with the two countries reiterating “constant position and support for the Palestinian cause.”

They also called for a political solution that guarantees Palestinians the establishment of a state.

The two countries had previously pledged to strengthen cooperation in various other fields, most notably renewable energy and youth development.
