Rabat – FIFA on Thursday revealed the official emblem of the 2022 Club World Cup, which is set to take place between February 1 and 11 in Morocco.

“The FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2022™ official emblem has been unveiled as the seven contenders wait to discover their path to potential glory during the official draw,” FIFA indicated in a press release.

According to the statement, the emblem “captures the prestige of reaching the pinnacle of global club football” and “is inspired by the glittering trophy lifted annually by the best club team in the world.”

FIFA explained that the golden pedestal represents the game’s “unshakeable foundations.” Meanwhile, “the sleek, ink-blue curved bands reflect the trophy’s pillars, which depict the various continents represented at the tournament.”

In addition, the structure holds high a vibrant, golden football, symbolizing “the immortal glory that awaits the FIFA Club World Cup™ winners,” noted the statement.

The tournament’s official draw will take place at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Sale, near Morocco’s capital Rabat, on Friday, 13 January at 12:00 pm GMT+1.

Streamed live on the FIFA+ application, the draw ceremony will feature Morocco’s most-capped football international Noureddine Naybet, who will participate as a draw assistant.

FIFA’s President Gianni Infantino and the President of the African Football Confederation (CAF) Patrice Motsepe are expected to attend the Club World Cup 2022 draw, Moroccan news outlet le 360 cited a source from Morocco’s football federation (FRMF) as saying.

The fast-approaching tournament will feature a total of seven clubs, including the winners of the six continental football confederations, as well as the host country’s league champions, Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club (WAC).

The six other clubs include Spain’s Real Madrid, Brazil’s Flamengo, the US’ Seattle Sounders, Egypt’s Al Ahly, New Zealand’s Auckland City, and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
