Rabat – Egyptian football club Al Ahly is set to lock horns with New Zealand’s Auckland City today at Tangier’s Ibn Batouta Stadium at 20:00 local time, as part of the first round of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
The first-round clash will be broadcasted on Moroccan sports channel Arryadia’s TNT channel.
The game can be live streamed in certain regions on FIFA+, as well as fuboTV.
The game will also be shown on Sky Sports 1 NZ and Fox Sports.
The two teams previously met in a quarter-final in 2006, when Al Ahly defeated Auckland City (2-0) earning the team their first bronze medal of the tournament.
Auckland City appeared in the tournament nine times while Al Ahly featured seven times.
According to match predictions, the game will be a tough one, However, “Al Ahly have been more active lately and haven’t lost a game in their league, which could make the difference.”
Hoping to win the tournament, Al Ahly’s attacking midfielder Ahmed Abdelkader told FIFA: “We want to go all the way. We want to give it our all and bring home the winner’s medal. We have great ambition as well as a historic affiliation with the tournament, having taken part on seven previous occasions.”

For his part, Auckland City’s player Jordan Vale said, “You also see so many upsets in football, and in the Club World Cup. This gives me a big belief that we can cause an upset. I’m just so excited for the tournament.”

Today’s match will determine who faces off against Seattle Sounders at Tangier’s Ibn Batouta Stadium at 18:30 local time on February 4.
