Rabat – International football governing body FIFA has promised fans awaiting the FIFA Club World Cup kick off  an “exceptional” opening ceremony.

The tournament will kick off at the Tangier’s Grand Stadium today, marking the opener faceoff between Al Ahly and Auckland City at 8 p.m. Moroccan time.

“While the game kicks off at 20:00 local time at Tangier Stadium, fans should plan to take their seats well before in order not to miss the stunning opening ceremony that promises some great surprises,” FIFA said on its website.

The football body advised fans to arrive ahead of the opening game’s start time.
“The stadium gates will open at 17:00,” FIFA added.

FIFA recalled that tickets are still on sale and “will be available to buy online throughout the tournament on a first-come, first-served basis” at FIFA.com/tickets.

The opening ceremony is expected to feature the official song of the tournament, which is produced by Morocco’s superstar Nadir Khayat, known by his international stage name RedOne.

The song will feature renowned singers, who perform different genres of Moroccan and international music.

FIFA’s President Gianni Infantino posted on Instagram on Tuesday, wishing “best wishes to all seven competing clubs – and to Morocco – for what will be a wonderful event.”

Infantino also reminisced about Morocco’s 2022 World Cup run, recalling its fans’ support throughout the global tournament.

“Team Morocco and its fans delighted us all with their spirit and love for football at the FIFA World Cup 2022. I am very excited as they are set to host the FIFA Club World Cup which takes place from 1 to 11 February,” he said.
