Rabat – President of Brazil’s Football Confederation (CBF) Ednaldo Rodrigues, has expressed satisfaction with the friendly game his country’s national squad will play against Morocco in March.
The Atlas Lions will face the Brazilian national squad in a friendly game on March 25 at Tangier’s Grand Stadium at 10 p.m. Moroccan time.
Commenting on the upcoming game, Rodriques described Morocco as a “strong opponent,” recalling the Atlas Lions’ historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“This is the beginning of a new phase for Brazilian football, and the CBF kicks off with our selection entering the field against a strong opponent, which is Morocco, which reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, last year,” Rodrigues said.
The confederation’s chief emphasized that the match is set to be a good test for Brazil’s football team.
“It will be certainly a game that will awaken the interest of Brazilian fans,” CBF’s president concluded.
Morocco’s national football team made international headlines after qualifying for the semi-finals. The Atlas Lions managed to win the majority of their matches. However, the team faced a loss against Croatia in the third-place game and France during the semi-finals throughout the tournament.
The historic run has improved Morocco’s ranking at FIFA. The ranking puts Morocco as the 11th-best team in the world and first best squad in Africa.
Brazil, which was considered a favorite to win the 2022 World Cup, exited the global tournament after losing to Croatia on penalties in the quarter-final.
Despite Brazil’s exit, the football team remains at the top of the list in the FIFA Ranking.
In addition to the friendly against Brazil, the Atlas Lions will also play another friendly game against Peru on March 28 in Spain.
