Rabat – Moroccan rapper Dizzy DROS’ government-critical song M3a L3echrane continues to garner considerable success, hitting record-breaking 7.4 million views in three days.

The song has been the number-one trending Youtube video in Morocco since its release. In addition, M3a L3echrane is trending in a number of other countries, including Algeria, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Canada, and France, among others.

Dizzy DROS and his fans have widely celebrated the song’s success. The Moroccan singer notably celebrated the fact that his song is the fifth most trending music video worldwide.

The record-breaking figures are a reflection of the song’s appeal to Moroccans, who were impressed by the important and bold messages it sought to convey.

The song notably echoed people’s criticism of the Moroccan government. The music video was released at a time when Moroccans are condemning the government’s unresponsiveness amid soaring inflation and commodity prices, which heavily weighed down on Moroccans’ purchasing power.

Through his song, Dizzy DROS also tackled the issue of police brutality, as well as the difficult circumstances that push Moroccan youth to turn to crime and end up in prison.

A Moroccan social media user praised Dizzy DROS for “speaking for the Moroccan population” and “using his platform and fame the right way.” Meanwhile, others described M3a L3echrane as “the best music video in the history of Moroccan rap.”

In addition, several Moroccan public figures and artists have congratulated Dizzy DROS on his song and the messages behind it, which resonated with many Moroccans.

Zakaria Ait Abdelmajib, a journalist at Moroccan TV channel 2M, congratulated Dizzy DROS on his newly-released song, highlighting its “strong messages” and “respectful” language compared to that of other rap songs.

“Singing is an important way to express peoples’ issues and interests … it’s not only about music and dancing,” Ait Abdelmajid emphasized.
