Rabat – King Mohammed VI has congratulated UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the two new leadership appointments.

The UAE President appointed his eldest son Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed as Crown Prince and his brother Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed as vice president on Wednesday.

King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to the UAE president today, expressing his “sincere congratulations” on the leadership appointments.

The monarch also expressed satisfaction with bilateral relations between Morocco and the UAE, stressing that he is proud of the “strong” relations of “brotherhood and sincere affection that unite us on a personal level and at the level of our families.”

In addition, the King also extended his message of congratulations to Sheikh Khaled, wishing him  “every success.”

“It gives me great pleasure to convey to you my warmest congratulations on the occasion of your appointment by my dear brother, his highness Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates,” the King said.

King Mohammed VI also mentioned Sheikh Mansour in his message of commendation.

“It gives me great pleasure to extend to your highness my warmest congratulations and best wishes for success in your new high office, and I congratulate you on the high trust you have received from My dear brother, the Head of State, may God preserve him,” King Mohammed VI stated.
Morocco and the UAE share good diplomatic relations. The two countries also expressed determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Trade between the two countries reached over $800 million in 2021.

UAE is also among the countries that frequently renew support for Morocco’s territorial integrity. In 2020, the UAE opened its consulate general in Laayoune, reflecting its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.
