National carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced the cancelation of several flights this week, incoming and outgoing to France after the notice from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) which urged all airlines to reduce their schedules, canceling 20% of flights on average.
“Due to the strike notice of the civil service, relayed by the unions of the French DGAC, we are forced to cancel some flights on March 20, 21, 22, and 23, from and to France.” RAM tweeted on Saturday.
To limit the impact of cancellations, Royal Air Maroc aids its customers to transfer flights to later dates and sends their customers emails and SMS confirming rescheduled flights. In addition, customers can also check the status of their reservation on the “manage my reservation” section on RAM’s official website.
RAM also offers refunds to those who wish to cancel their rescheduled flights. Ticket holders are also free to reschedule their flights, subject to availability, to the same or to any destination in the Royal Air Maroc network in Europe, provided they do so within 15 days of the cancellation date.
“For any change of destination, the possible difference in taxes will be charged to the passenger” Royal Air Maroc explained on their official website.
Flights to and from France have been disrupted since January 2023 due to ongoing strikes against the French government’s pension reform which aims to make the legal retirement age 64 years old. Currently, the legal age to retire in the country is 62 years old.
