Rabat – The second edition of Marrakech Fashion Week (MFW) kicked off today in Morocco’s red city. The five-day event is bringing together talented designers from all over the world to showcase their original collections inspired by Moroccan culture and contemporary art.

Describing the fashion show as a “major event on the international fashion scene,” the organizers promise that the second edition will be even more spectacular than the first, showcasing Marrakech’s heritage to the world through fashion.

The event’s goal is to promote Marrakech‘s rich heritage through fashion shows held in iconic locations such as the Menara gardens, said the organizers in a press release.

The fashion show will feature the works of talented designers from Morocco and other countries, such as Ghita Chraibi, Alphadi, Lune de Jour, Rajae Errais, and many others.

This year’s edition will also feature haute couture designs made using locally-sourced fabrics and traditional artisanal techniques, with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental protection.

Parades, exhibitions, and exclusive evenings

The event offers a program with varied activities, including a solo exhibition by string artist Houyam Rahmani, hosted at Marrakech’s Hesperis Coffee Factory on March 15.

The schedule for March 16 will be devoted to the parades of young talent at Marrakech’s Menara Gardens followed by the opening night at Sofitel Marrakech.

Other events will take place on March 17-18 which will be dedicated to fashion shows by national and international designers, in exceptional places, such as the Menara Gardens and the Agafay desert.

A Platform for Young Talent

Marrakech Fashion Week aims to promote young and upcoming designers. La Salle College and Brega Mode in collaboration with the MFW teams offered a unique opportunity for young talents to develop their skills through specialized workshops.

Workshops were held for young designers by Stella Cadente and Karim Tassi.

On the final day, the closing desert fashion show will be an opportunity to celebrate sharing and solidarity, highlighting the talent and know-how of Moroccan designers while supporting a noble cause.

Part of the profits generated from the evening’s event will be donated to the Enfance Espoir association, which works to provide better living conditions for underprivileged children in Morocco.

The sponsor of this charity event is the Moroccan actress Asma Khamlichi, known for her commitment to supporting underprivileged children.

“This charity evening represents a unique opportunity for guests to support a noble cause while enjoying the latest trends in Moroccan fashion,” concluded the press release.
