Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced the opening of the electronic registration process for Hajj 2024 which is set to take place from 20 – 30 March 2023.
The Royal Commission in charge of pilgrimage has decided to open electronic registration to citizens aged 18 and over who have not performed Hajj during the last ten years, said a statement from the ministry.
The electronic registration will be accessible via the ministry’s website according to two lists. The statement explained that the first list is reserved for people wishing to perform the rite of pilgrimage under the supervision of the ministry, while the second list is intended for those wishing to be supervised by travel agencies.
Last month, Morocco’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced new regulations for Hajj, including the abolition of the requirement for women under 45 to be accompanied by a male guardian starting in the 2024 Hajj season.
For this year’s Hajj season, the second phase for the payment of the pilgrimage fees will take place from March 23-29. Pilgrims can make the payment at Barid Bank branches across Morocco.
Moroccan pilgrims are expected to pay MAD 62,929, or $6,117 for this year’s Hajj season.
Islamic Affairs Minister Ahmed Toufiq has said that Morocco’s quota for the “1444 AH Hajj” season is set at 34,000 pilgrims.
