Rabat – 80 Ferraris with an estimated worth of more than €100 million arrived in the Moroccan city of Essaouira on Monday as part of the “Ferrari International Cavalcade 2023.”
Taking place from 12-17 March, the cavalcade will feature a 1,000 kilometer long itinerary driven over five days in the landscapes and hinterlands of Marrakech, Essaouira, Ouarzazate, and Ait Benhaddou.
Tarik Ottmani, President of the local council of Essaouira, told Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) that he was pleased to see Essaouira host such an event and garner the interest and preference of its organizers, stressing the importance of such events to the City of Winds’ international exposure.
He explained that these kinds of events enhance Essaouira’s standing as a premier tourist destination and highlight its significance as a hub and venue for hosting remarkable events that can contribute to the national development of tourism activities.
Known for its music festivals as well as its beautiful architecture, rich history, and windy beaches, the coastal city is one of Morocco’s most popular tourist destinations.
The tourism sector in Essaouira has recently seen hotel bookings sell out, finishing off a promising year for tourism in the coastal city.
In 2022, the “city of wind” became the first destination to be labeled as “creative friendly” in Morocco and the African continent, with the Creative Tourism Network (CTN) recognizing the Moroccan city’s rich history of promoting arts and socio-cultural diversity.
