Rabat – In a time of flux and uncertainty brought on by the effects of the Ukraine crisis, global geopolitical tensions, and inflationary pressures, King Mohammed VI has urged Arab countries to increase cooperation in the face of emerging global and regional challenges.
In a message read on his behalf by Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, the monarch said: “If there is a key lesson to be learned from the crisis since 2020, it is that Arab development organizations need to strengthen their capacity to anticipate regional and international changes.”
The monarch’s message was addressed to the participants in the Joint Annual Meeting of Arab Financial Institutions, which took place today in Rabat.
The worldwide crisis, as well as the increasing climate change are jeopardizing prospects for global economic growth and market stability, King Mohammed VI noted.
The monarch emphasized that these rapid developments pose medium- and long-term risks to energy and food security.
“We are urged to coordinate our joint development efforts and update pertinent policies and programs so as to adequately address the aspirations and needs of Arab populations in general and Arab youth in particular.” the monarch explained.
King Mohammed VI also called for the adoption of a roadmap to strengthen Arab agricultural cooperation, attain food self-sufficiency, and ensure water security in the Arab world.
The monarch stressed that Morocco is keen to share its know-how in numerous fields with allies and friendly countries.

“Morocco, proud of its Arab, Islamic, and African heritage, wishes to make its human capital available to brotherly and friendly countries and to exchange know-how in numerous disciplines with them,” King Mohammed VI noted.
Morocco is committed to many projects that aim to strengthen Arab and African economic integration, said the king, citing the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline, a strategic project for peace and common development seeking to consolidate energy security at the continental and international levels.
The monarch stated that Morocco, which is hosting this meeting for the sixth time, has long been a key promoter and keen supporter of Joint Arab Action.
He said that this annual gathering of Arab financial institutions is critical for taking stock of what has been accomplished and recognizing the institutions’ contributions to the overall development effort.
Additionally, King Mohammad VI expressed his sincere gratitude to the Arab financial institutions that support the dynamics of socioeconomic development in the Kingdom, whether through their ongoing financial support of the nation’s investment and development projects or through the technical support they offer in a variety of fields.
