Rabat – UAE airline Emirates has announced the replacement of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with its flagship Airbus A380 for its Dubai-Casablanca route.
Emirates announced the news in a communique, adding that its “iconic” flagship airliner landed at Morocco’s Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca on Saturday.
The replacement signals a “better way to fly between Dubai and Casablanca, ” the company added.
The flight also answers the increasing travel demand in and out of Morocco, the communique added.
“Passengers onboard the first A380 to Morocco were in for an extra tinge of excitement as the superjumbo was dressed in a special livery marked for the occasion,” Emirates added. “The aircraft sported the Museum of the Future Livery, Dubai’s newest definitive marvel, architectural icon, and centre for pioneering concepts and ideas.”
Emirates Managing Director in Morocco Khalfan Al-Salami welcomed the flight along with UAE Ambassador to Morocco Al Asri Al Dhaheri, and UAE Consul General in Morocco Omar Abdulrahman Al Tunaji.
Emirates recalled its years-long service in Morocco stressing that its flights have been flying to the North African country for 21 years.
“The return of A380 services underscores its long-standing commitment to the country, boosting inbound traffic and supporting the tourism recovery of the country,” Emirates said.
Morocco has been boosting its tourism industry, with the aim to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The North African country attracted 2.9 million tourists in the first quarter of 2023. The recent arrivals represent an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2019.
In 2022, Morocco attracted nearly 11 million tourists last year. The country aims to double the number of arrivals to 26 million by 2030.
