Rabat – Professional mixed martial artist Israel Adesanya said that he has taken steps to protect his assets, drawing inspiration from Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi, who had reportedly been in a similar incident with his soon-to-be ex-wife Hiba Abouk.
“Like Achraf Hakimi, my assets are protected,” the reigning UFC middleweight champion said after his break up with ex-girlfriend Charlotte Powdrell, who has reportedly taken legal action against him.
In the wake of Hakimi and Abouk’s recently confirmed separation, rumors said that the Spanish actress was shocked to discover that she will not be entitled to any of the Moroccan footballer’s fortune and assets as he had registered everything under his mother’s name.
Adesanya seems to be keen to safeguard his wealth from his former partner, with reports claiming that she says their relationship was long enough to grant her access to a portion of his assets. However, the 33-year-old athlete has responded by assuring that his assets are secure.
“Very relatable… Imagine being so f**** entitled that you think you deserve what a man has worked his whole life for,” the Nigeria-born champion said in an Instagram story, as quoted by Essentially Sports.
“When you came into his life with nothing and tried to leave with millions. But like Achraf Hakimi, my assets are protected. I woulda taken half her s*** too but I don’t want half of NOTHING,” he added.
Despite the rumors, some legal experts have also cast doubts on the reports surrounding Hakimi’s assets, stressing that transferring assets to avoid paying divorce settlements is against the law.
