Rabat – Youssef En-Nesyri’s performances with Sevilla are making headlines in the Spanish media, with most commentators saying the Moroccan forward’s current form confirms his status among the best strikers in Europe’s elite leagues.
On Friday, the Spanish football website Estadio Deportivo published a report emphasizing the importance of “talking about En-Nesyri.”
“The Moroccan forward has already scored 16 goals in 2023,” Estatio Deportivo wrote, stressing that this makes the Atlas Lion level with French football star Kylian Mbappe.
En-Nesyri is also very close to other “top forwards in Europe,” the news outlet added.
These latest plaudits come on the heels of En-Nesyri’s impressive performance during the Sevilla-Juventus Europa League semi-final game on Thursday.
En-Nesyri scored Sevilla’s goal early in the first half, once again handing his club a much-need advantage in a defining match.
“With his goal last night, En-Nesyri continues to increase his great goal scoring record in 2023, which no matter where you look, they never cease to amaze,” added Estatio Deportivo’s report.
Football Espana, another Spanish news outlet, shared videos of En-Nesyri goal, stressing that the Moroccan football player has been in “sensational form since Mendilibar took the reins at Seville in late March, and he has added another goal to his tally, with Ocampos providing the assist.”
En-Nesyri’s impressive form over the past few weeks made him the month of April’s star player in La Liga, Spain’s top-tier football league.
Last week, Sevilla announced that the Moroccan forward was named as April’s Player of the Month in Spain’s top-flight league, tweeting: “It’s no surprise who has been named @LaLigaEng Player of the Month! Take a bow, Youssef En-Nesyri.”
En-Nesyri, who joined Sevilla in January 2020, is also a key football player for Morocco’s national team that impressed the footballing world with its historic performances at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Sevilla striker is also expected to be on top of the list of players set to be called up for Morocco’s friendly game against Cape Verde scheduled for June 12.
