Rabat – A new weather alert from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) said that Morocco’s ongoing heatwave will continue until Tuesday in several provinces across the country.
The weather alert said the temperature will range between 36 and 46 degrees Celsius from Sunday to Tuesday.
Temperatures of 45 to 47 degrees are expected from Sunday to Tuesday in several provinces, including Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Larache, Kenitra, Ouezzane, Taounate, Khemisset, Fquih Ben Saleh, and Settat.
The same weather will hit Rehamna, El Kelaa des Seraghna, Marrakech, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, Sidi Bennour, and Taroudant.
Temperatures ranging from 42 to 45 degrees will affect the provinces of Agadir Ida Outanane, Inzegane ait Melloul, Chtouka ait Baha, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, and Aousserd.
Meanwhile the provinces of Moulay Yacoub, Fez, Meknes, Sefrou, El Hajeb, Khenifra, Khouribga, Beni Mellal, Azilal, and Al Haouz will experience temperatures reaching up to 43 degrees.
Essaouira, Errachidia, and Zagora will experience the same weather, while the provinces of Safi, El Jadida, Berrechid, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Benslimane, Skhirate-Temara, Rabat, and Sale will witness temperatures from 36 and 39 degrees.
It remains to be seen whether the heatwave will continue until Eid Al Adha, also known as the sacrifice feast.
Morocco will celebrate the feast on Thursday next week. Most families resort to their houses’ rooftops to carry out some of the most important rituals, including the slaughtering of livestock.
Keeping your skin protected with a medically approved sunscreen and drinking water are key during the summer season – particularly during heat waves.
Drinking enough water helps to regulate internal body temperatures to avoid many health imbalances – including kidney disease complications or heatstrokes.
