Rabat – The Arab Parliament released a statement on Saturday condemning Israeli settlers’ burning of the Quran and vandalization of mosques in Nablus, a city in the occupied West Bank, describing them as acts that “violate all values and encourage hatred.”

The statement released by the regional organization went on to detail some of the offenses in question, describing settlers’ “attacks on Palestinian civilians in several West Bank villages,” as well as their “theft and burning of belongings.”

“[The Arab Parliament] stresses that this is a condemned and rejected behavior that violates all values and spreads hatred,” the statement continues, describing the heinous acts as “crimes against humanity” and a “flagrant violation” of international law.

The statement appealed to the international community, calling on them to “put an end to their silence over such crimes, and an end to the occupation’s crimes towards the Palestinian people and their sacred belongings.”

The release concluded by warning that continued violations could result in a “big revolution of anger in the face of the occupation.”

Israel’s attacks on Palestinian territories have recently come under scrutiny and criticism, especially from other countries in the Arab World and MENA regions.

Speaking on Friday, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita reiterated the country’s opposition to moves and decisions that could hamper the international community’s attempts to de-escalate the conflict.

“Morocco is following the concerning situation that the occupied Palestinian territories are witnessing closely,” he said, stressing that Rabat rejected Israel’s last attacks on Jenin, which left casualties behind.

He also expressed the country’s opposition to Israeli plans to expand their illegal settlements in the West Bank.
