Police in Liege, a city in Belgium’s Walloon region, announced earlier today the interruption of traffic due to a suspicious vehicle left in front of Morocco’s consulate.
“Traffic is interrupted on boulevard de la Sauveniere in the direction of Guillemins due to a suspicious vehicle. The police are taking all precautionary measures before reopening the board,” the Liege police department wrote on Twitter.
The department subsequently shared an update about the situation, saying that it was a “false alert.”
According to the Brussels Times, the situation caused a halt in traffic after police were called to the scene today at 10 a.m. (Belgium time) after the vehicle’s driver was not found.
“Wary of a potential bomb threat, experts were called in as ‘precautionary measure,’” the news outlet said.
Police, however, lifted all safety measures an hour later after experts failed to find anything suspicious.
