Rabat – The Women’s national football team will play 3 friendly matches in the month of July ahead of the Women World Cup, a statement from the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF) announced on Wednesday.

The first friendly game will take place on July 1 against Italy, while a second friendly game will be scheduled against Switzerland on July 5.

The third and final friendly game for Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses will take place on July 16 against Jamaica, noted the FRMF statement, stressing that these friendly matches serve as  an opportunity for the national team to prepare for the upcoming 2023 Women’s World Cup.

The Atlas Lionesses played two friendly matches in April against their Czech and Romanian counterparts. The Atlas Lionesses lost both games, 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.

All eyes are on the Moroccan Women’s national team to redeem themselves in this series of pre-World Cup bouts this time around.

The Atlass Lionesses have been drawn in group H, alongside Colombia, Germany, South Korea in this year’s Women’s World Cup. The global tournament will take place in Australia and New Zealand on July 20.

Moroccan football has become an undeniable force to be reckoned with after the results of the men’s Moroccan national team in the Qatar World Cup, putting high expectations on the Atlas Lionesses.
