Casablanca – As part of its participation in the GITEX Africa conference, Moroccan phone service provider Inwi expressed its plans to support Moroccan tech startups.
Mehdi Laachach, Inwi’s Open Innovation Manager, told Morocco World News (MWN) that the company “is here to accompany startups to accelerate their business.”
Laachach talked about “Inwi Innov,” a platform that seeks to support startups and digital project owners in Morocco and all throughout Africa.
The platform was launched in 2018 and has three main goals: to inspire people to innovate in the digital world, to coach and accompany project owners, and to accelerate the growth of leading startups, as stated on the Inwi Innov website.
“So this is an example of action: we enroll in Inwi to help the ecosystem to develop their business from ideation, incubation to acceleration”, Laachach stated.

Laachach also referred to Inwi’s role in putting the light on “innovative subjects” such as retail tech, climate tech, and health tech.
The technologies aim to provide specific services in particular fields and are essentially deeply integrated into the tech ecosystem to bring about the latest technological advancements to said fields.
The Inwi official added that start-ups were happy to participate in the event as they had “many B2B meetings” and “could meet with potential customers, partners and investors.”
With thousands of participants from dozens of countries, GITEX Africa was the ideal opportunity to lead emerging tech start-ups as well as digital project owners to introduce their work to potential investors.
According to Laachach, the company also gives startups the opportunity to work with them as part of its ‘Inwi Innov’ program.
“For those that have pertinent solutions for the operator, we could concretize and handle the purchase order in this program,” he said.
The operator also had the opportunity to present its own innovative solutions to businesses in the digital field as part of their “Inwi Business” offerings, including next-generation connectivity solutions.
Laachach expressed his satisfaction to see Moroccan technology “on the international scene.”
