Rabat –  The abundance of natural gas in Morocco has opened up the exciting possibility of a “gas-to-power” project in the future, said Executive Chairman of Predator Oil & Gas Holdings PLC Paul Griffiths.

In an interview with Proactive London, Griffiths described Predator’s operations in Morocco as “intense” and “fast-paced,” especially during the past eight weeks.

During the conversation, Griffiths provided an overview of Predator’s recent activities in the country and conveyed his enthusiasm about the prospects of the Jurassic play, indicating the potential for conducting an appraisal later this year.

The Jersey-based company recently issued a positive update on its MOU-3 well drilling progress, revealing the identification of two potential gas reservoirs.

The company’s operations unveiled a substantial drilling break between 339 and 350 meters in depth, which was identified as the source of the gas.

The drilling operation, focused on the Moulouya Fan primary reservoir target in the Guercif Petroleum Agreement in onshore Morocco, has been proceeding as planned, with costs aligning with the company’s pre-drill working capital estimates, Predator said in an earlier statement.

Soon after, Predator announced later in June that it had commenced drilling operations at the MOU-4 well.

The company first announced commencing operation in Guercif in November 2022, explaining that the drilling of one well under the license MOU-2 should be finalized over the coming weeks.

At the time, the company said that it had locked in an initial financing package to develop a simple Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), a compressed form of gas that makes it easier to transport large quantities at a lower cost.

Predator holds a 75% stake in the Guercif license while Morocco holds a 25% interest.
