Rabat – The battle against a raging fire that ignited in the border region between the Moroccan provinces of Taounate and Al Hoceima, known as “Wargha,” has entered its third consecutive day, with the National Agency for Water, Forests, and Civil Protection leaving no stone unturned in their determined efforts to bring the blaze under control, the Moroccan state media reported.

According to Imad al-Khabir, the acting regional director of the National Agency for Water and Forests in Al Hoceima, exhaustive measures have been deployed to quell the flames that first erupted on August 20th. Al-Khabir underscored the absence of any casualties thus far, reflecting the dedication of the response teams to safeguard lives and property.

The official also emphasized the daunting challenges posed by the region’s unforgiving topography. The rugged terrain, combined with adverse climatic conditions marked by soaring temperatures, has intensified the complexity of the firefighting mission. Despite these hurdles, the teams remain resolute in their pursuit of bringing the fire under control.

In their unrelenting commitment, two Canadair planes have been instrumental in the firefighting operations. These aircraft have executed ten sorties, utilizing advanced technology to douse the flames from the skies. Alongside the aerial support, ground forces have marshaled their efforts.

A contingent of 12 personnel from the National Agency for Water and Forests, bolstered by 20 members of local authorities, 10 Auxiliary Forces personnel, 15 Civil Protection members, 50 individuals from the Orache program, and an additional 100 local residents, have united their strengths in this endeavor.

The blaze has cast a spotlight on the resilience and collaboration of various agencies and the local community. As the battle wages on, the unity displayed in the face of adversity continues to inspire hope.

For many witnesses of these ongoing firefighting operations, the unwavering determination of those on the front lines – battling not only the fire itself but also the geographical and climatic impediments – serves as a testament to the indomitable human spirit.
