Rabat – Argentinian footballer and superstar athlete Lionel Messi gave his first press conference as an Inter Miami player before their upcoming fixture in the Leagues Cup final against Nashville SC, talking about his time with French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
“Me going to Paris was neither planned nor desired,” Messi stated.
“The departure to Paris was difficult because of how it happened. It’s not something I wanted,” Messi stated “I had to quickly get used to a new place after so many years in Barcelona,”.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner had faced criticism and even whistles and booing from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans watching his performances with the Ligue 1 champions.
The Argentinian superstar revealed that he is now happy in Major League Soccer (MLS) as he is already making wonders with his new team, scoring 9 goals in 6 games.
“I came to play and I made the right decision to come and play in Miami. I’m happy and I’m looking forward to continuing to enjoy myself,” Messi concluded.
This summer had been uncertain for the world champion as his exit from PSG prompted a bidding war to secure his services, notably from his previous club FC Barcelona and from Saudi team Al Hilal.
“After having lived through what I lived through, after the exit I had… I didn’t want to go through the same situation again and have to wait to see what was going to happen,” Messi had previously told Spanish news outlet Sport when asked about not returning to Barcelona.
