Rabat – King Mohammed VI has expressed Morocco’s determination to continue boosting bilateral ties with Qatar.

On Monday, King Mohammed VI addressed a message to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari news agency QNA reported, stressing that the Moroccan monarch’s letter was about “bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them.”

Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Vice Emir of the State of Qatar, received the message on behalf of the Emir during a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget Fouzi Lekjaa.

During the meeting, Bourita conveyed the King’s greetings to the Emir of Qatar as well as to the Vice-Emir, extending his wishes for the well-being to the country’s head of state as well as wishes for the development and progress of Qatar and the Qatari people.

The Vice-Emir also conveyed the Emir of Qatar’s greetings to the Moroccan Kingand his wishes for health and happiness to the sovereign.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to review bilateral ties between the two countries, as well as the means to develop cooperation at different levels.

Qatar and Morocco share good diplomatic ties reflected in the exchange of visits between senior officials as well as in cooperation that Rabat and Doha share at different levels.

The bilateral ties between the two countries were also reflected through the unwavering support that Qatari leadership and people displayed throughout Morocco’s matches during the World Cup 2022.

Throughout the competition, members of the Qatari royal family including the country’s Emir attended Morocco’s games and waved the Moroccan flag to celebrate the Atlas Lions’ triumphs during the competition.

Morocco has also contributed to the success of the World Cup through sharing its expertise with the Gulf country.

In October 2022, beIN Sports reported that Morocco and Qatar released a joint statement promising to increase security cooperation and exchange information ahead of the global tournament.
In addition to Qatar, Morocco’s King also sent a similar message to Saudi Arabia’s leadership, stressing the country’s determination to continue to boost bilateral ties with Riyadh.

On Sunday, Saudi news agency SPA said the monarch addressed a written message to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to explore new avenues to further support and develop bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia across different domains.

Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar have frequently expressed their determination to boost ties with Morocco, as well as their support for the country’s territorial integrity.
