Rabat – Portuguese international Bernardo Silva has officially joined Real Madrid on a free transfer. His contract with Real Madrid runs until June 30, 2028.
The move comes after his contract with Manchester City expired at the end of last season, bringing an end to a successful nine-year spell with the Citizens.
Silva has played 459 games for City since joining the team from Monaco in the French league in 2017, scoring 76 goals.
The Portuguese player has won 15 major titles with City, including four consecutive Premier League titles between 2021 and 2024, as well as the historic treble that included winning the Champions League title in 2023. He also added four domestic titles during the 2018-2019 season.
After Real Madrid failed to win any major title for two consecutive seasons, the club’s re-elected president, Florentino Perez, decided to appoint Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho earlier this month.
Real Madrid announced on Monday the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth 55 million euros ($63.8 million).
Los Blancos are also preparing to sign French defender Ibrahima Konate after his spell with Liverpool came to an end. The club has also been linked with Dutchman Denzel Dumfries, a player for Inter Milan.
