Rabat – Liverpool FC’s manager Jürgen Klopp has categorically denied swirling rumors that his team’s star player, Egyptian Mohamed Salah, is set to make a dramatic departure from the English Premier League club to join the Saudi Football League.
Klopp’s statement comes amidst speculations that Saudi club Al-Ittihad is eager to secure Salah’s signature in a deal that could rival the blockbuster moves of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to Saudi teams, the Guardian reported earlier today.
Having extended his contract with Liverpool just last year, Salah’s agent affirmed earlier this month that the player remains fully committed to the storied Anfield stadium, the Premier League club’s home ground. “Mohammed remains committed to Liverpool,” emphasized Rami Abbas, Salah’s representative. Abbas further reminded fans that if Salah were considering leaving, he wouldn’t have inked his contract extension this summer.
Reports from Saudi Arabia’s sports outlets suggested that Al-Ittihad had tabled a jaw-dropping offer of £52 million (€60 million) to Liverpool, coupled with a lucrative two-year contract for Salah worth £155 million (€180 million). However, these claims were quashed by both Klopp and Salah’s agent, hinting at the player’s loyalty to Liverpool.

Liverpool, who has already seen the departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi clubs this summer, has taken a firm stance against losing more key players. Additionally, Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino moved earlier this summer from Liverpool to Al-Ahli upon the expiry of his contract with the Reds.
Klopp’s denial came during a press conference preceding Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle. Addressing the media, Klopp brushed off the speculation as mere “media reports,” asserting that Salah is firmly a Liverpool player and stressing his importance to the team. Klopp’s sentiments were resolute: “He is an indispensable player, he was and still is important, nothing to talk about. If there is something (an offer), the answer will be no.”
Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has etched his name in the club’s history with a remarkable 187 goals in 307 appearances. He played an instrumental role in Liverpool’s recent conquests, securing titles such as the Champions League, English Premier League, English Cup, League Cup, Club World Cup, and the European Super Cup.
