Rabat – US President Donald Trump said Iran has agreed to never develop a nuclear weapon, while rejecting reports that Washington plans to provide Tehran with hundreds of billions of dollars as part of a newly announced agreement between the two countries.
“Iran has agreed to never have a Nuclear Weapon! Also, the story that the U.S. is paying Iran 300 Billion Dollars is Fake News, put out by the Democrats!!!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The statement comes as the White House promotes a recent agreement with Iran that officials say could lead to a broader deal on Tehran’s nuclear program and regional security issues.
Trump has presented the accord as a major diplomatic achievement, arguing that it can prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon while reducing tensions in the Middle East. However, many details of the agreement have yet to be finalized, and the full text has not been publicly released.
According to senior US officials, the current understanding between Washington and Tehran includes steps to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ease tensions following months of war. The officials say further negotiations will take place over the coming weeks to determine how Iran’s nuclear activities will be addressed.
Despite Trump’s claim that Iran has agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons, US officials acknowledge that Tehran has not yet dismantled any nuclear facilities, destroyed its stockpile of enriched uranium, or accepted a detailed international inspection regime. These issues are expected to be central to future negotiations.

Iran has consistently rejected claims that it is seeking to develop nuclear weapons. Iranian officials say their nuclear program is peaceful and also stress that they will not accept foreign pressure or interference in their nuclear activities.
The agreement has also sparked debate over potential economic incentives that could be offered to Iran. Trump strongly denied reports that the United States would pay Iran $300 billion.
However, White House officials have suggested that economic relief could form part of a future arrangement if Iran complies with its commitments. US officials have discussed the possibility of sanctions relief, access to frozen Iranian funds, and economic assistance linked to progress on nuclear verification measures.
Iran has also offered its own interpretation of the agreement. Iranian officials have indicated that Tehran will maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz and has not publicly committed to restrictions on its nuclear program beyond general statements.
Some analysts and former US officials remain skeptical about the prospects for a comprehensive agreement. They note that previous negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program took years to complete and involved detailed commitments on enrichment, inspections, and sanctions relief.
