German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, currently attending the G20 summit in India, expressed his condolences for the victims of this tragedy. In a message posted on social media, he said, “At this difficult time, our thoughts are with the victims of this devastating earthquake. Our sympathy goes out to all those affected by this natural disaster.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his sympathies to Morocco. He took to social media to convey his sorrow, saying, “Extremely pained by the loss of lives due to an earthquake in Morocco.”

“In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the people of Morocco,” he added. “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones.”

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also offered his condolences to relatives of the victims of the “terrible” earthquake in Morocco.

“All my solidarity and support to the people of Morocco in the wake of this terrible earthquake… Spain is with the victims of this tragedy and its families,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The affected regions and provinces include Al-Houz, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua, and Taroudant. The tremors began shortly before 11:14 p.m. on Friday, triggering widespread panic among millions of Moroccans.

The earthquake’s impact has been severe, with reports of collapsed buildings, infrastructure damage, and disrupted services in affected areas. Moroccan authorities are working to provide aid and support to those affected, coordinating efforts to rescue survivors and offer assistance to the injured.

The Marrakesh Regional Blood Transfusion Centre has called for blood donations for the victims of the deadly earthquake.

The institution appealed to all people in the city of Marrakesh to come to the centre to donate blood, starting from Saturday morning.

The exact extent of the damage and the total number of casualties is expected to become clearer as rescue operations continue, and further assessments are conducted.
