Rabat – In response to the devastating earthquake that struck the Al Haouz region last night, King Mohammed VI has deployed significant human and logistical resources to assist the affected communities.
This deployment includes air and land assets, specialized Search and Rescue teams, and a Field Medical-Surgical Hospital (HMCC).
According to an official statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), meticulous coordination with local authorities has been established to ensure the efficient deployment of intervention teams and resources, such as planes, helicopters, drones, and engineering assets, as well as logistics support units.
The comprehensive response aims to provide crucial assistance to the affected populations and various departments engaged in relief efforts.
The earthquake hit the Al Haouz region, located between Marrakech and Agadir, at around 11:13 PM last night, leaving a significant impact on the affected areas.
With a 7 magnitude that sent shockwaves through the region, the earthquake claimed the lives of more than 800 people as of 10 AM on Saturday and injured hundreds. The death toll is expected to increase as rescue operations continue.
In addition to causing widespread damage to infrastructure, homes, and public facilities, the earthquake has inflicted substantial distress on local populations in the affected areas.
