Rabat – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has announced the dedication of the proceeds from the upcoming friendly match with Burkina Faso to support the victims of the recent earthquake that struck several regions in Morocco.

The federation said it will donate the match proceeds, which come mainly from the Moroccan diaspora, to the special fund that Moroccan authorities established to manage the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.

The friendly match will take place today at 7:30 PM GMT+1 at the Estadio Bollaert-Delelis stadium in Lens, France.

The devastating magnitude 7 earthquake struck the Al Haouz region on Friday night, leaving a trail of destruction and affecting communities in various parts of the country.

The seismic event had a profound impact on several areas, including Taroudant, Chichaoua, and Ouarzazate, among others.

The latest data from the Moroccan Ministry of Interior indicated that the death toll has reached more than 2,800 deaths, and that it is expected to continue to rise as rescue efforts continue.

In response to the disaster, Moroccan authorities have deployed rescue teams and medical personnel to the affected areas, tirelessly working to save lives and provide critical medical care.

In addition, authorities established a mobile hospital in the Al Haouz region, which was affected the most by the earthquake.

The international community has also extended its support to Morocco during this challenging time. Several countries, including the US, the UK, India, Spain, and Egypt, have offered aid and assistance to help Morocco cope with the aftermath of the disaster.

In addition to official efforts, Moroccan citizens have shown remarkable solidarity and compassion. Many individuals have volunteered their time and resources to assist with rescue and relief operations, while others have made generous donations to support the affected communities. Blood donation centers have also witnessed an influx of donors.
