Rabat – Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has paid a visit to the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech to see victims of the recent devastating Al Haouz earthquake and to assess relief efforts.

The King visited the hospital’s intensive care unit as well as the unit dedicated to caring for the earthquake victims. He also donated his blood for the benefit of the injured.

He visited some of the victims of the earthquake who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and inquired about their health, as well as about the care they are receiving following the disaster.

The monarch arrived in the city on Tuesday, in a visit to assess the efforts sustained by local authorities and forces on the ground to recover from the considerable damage the quake has caused.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Interior, 2,901 people have lost their lives in the earthquake, while 5,000 sustained injuries of varying severities.

Moroccans from all backgrounds are continuing to mobilize their aid efforts to help those who are affected, especially by donating blood, food, blankets, and any other basic necessities.

The earthquake is the strongest in terms of magnitude to be witnessed in Morocco in 120 years, according to some experts. It is also the deadliest in decades.
