Rabat – The Spanish-Moroccan-Portugal committee for hosting the 2030 World Cup held its first meeting today in Las Rosas, Spain.
The meeting convened President of Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa along with the President of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Football Federation Pedro Rocha and President of the Portuguese Football Federation Fernando Gomes.
The FRMF said the three federations expressed satisfactions with the bid, emphasizing their readiness to enter the race.
“We are moving forward together with the aim of presenting a very strong World Cup project that is stronger than ever with the inclusion of Morocco in our working teams,” FRMF quoted Rosha as saying.
Lekjaa shared similar sentiments, stressing that the three bidding countries are aware of the “great responsibility on our shoulders because we are facing a historic opportunity.”
“We will contribute our best efforts to a great team of professionals working very hard to achieve the goal. It is an honor for us to be part of such a strong and important candidacy,” Lekjaa added.
Gomes also commented on the meeting, stressing that the bid is very “solid.”
“We are working in a coordinated manner with professionals to achieve the best result,” he added.
Morocco announced its decision to enter the Iberian bid in March .
“This joint bid, which is unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds,” King Mohammed VI said, noting that this bid “will also bring out the best in all of us – in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, experience, and means.”
