Rabat – A medical solidarity convoy visited the Ait Tamlil community and the neighboring areas in the Azilal province on September 24, providing vital aid for victims who were harmed by the devastating earthquake that hit Morocco earlier this month.

The convoy was organized by the Sultan Moulay Slimane University in Beni Mellal and the Moroccan Association of Medical Sciences, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Ministry of Higher Education.

The convoy conducted medical examinations and provided health and treatment services to the victims, reaching over 1,600 examinations in all specialties, according to converging reports.

Men, women, and children of varying ages benefited from the convoy.

Over 40 doctors including pediatricians, surgeons, and psychologists, among other specialties, participated in the aid effort, alongside 11 pharmacists and 20 auxiliary staff.

Alongside medicine, residents received other essentials such as baby formula, clothes, school supplies, children’s toys, mattresses, blankets, food supplies, and others.

Medical analyses and ultrasound examinations were also carried out, in addition to organizing workshops for children which included drawing classes, magic games, and other activities.

Several organizations including the National Health Insurance Agency, the Ibn Rochd University Hospital Center, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Casablanca, and the National Federation of Health, among others.

The effects of the September 8 earthquake that affected the Al Haouz region are still being felt by many who survived, as humanitarian aid continues to arrive to the afflicted regions.

Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka recently told media that there are joint committees working in coordination with the Ministry of Interior in order to evaluate and count the homes damaged by the earthquake, as authorities will undertake the process of removing the demolished buildings to start reconstruction.
