Rabat – Moroccan kickboxing star Mohammed Boutasaa hopes to bounce back from a recent slump in form this Friday when he takes on Turkey’s Furkan Karabag at ONE Championship’s ONE Friday Fights 35 event.

The highly-anticipated featherweight kickboxing bout will take place at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of the fight show that kicks off this Friday, September 29 at 13:30 GMT. The entire show will be streamed live on the ONE Championship YouTube channel.

Boutasaa, who previously appeared on the ONE Friday Fights 18 card, joins Ilias Ennahachi, Mohammed Hanoun and Wail Karroumi as one of four Moroccans participating in the weekly fight series.

Nicknamed “Too Sharp,” Boutasaa joined ONE Championship in March 2022 with a clean record. Since then, the 24-year-old, who also holds Dutch citizenship, has had an up-and-down run in the world’s largest mixed martial arts organization.

After an impressive debut win over Georgian veteran Davit Kiria via unanimous decision at ONE 157 in May 2022, Boutasaa suffered two straight losses to tarnish his overall record, which currently stands at 15-2.

The 24-year-old lost by unanimous decision to Thai star Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and up-and-coming Iranian Mohammad Siasarani in October 2022 and May 2023, respectively.

This Friday, Boutasaa will face 25-year-old Furkan Karabag, who boasts a 26-7 overall professional record and a 1-1 ONE record after scoring a third-round TKO win over Thailand’s Revo Sor Sommai in his debut in February 2023 before losing to Nico Carrillo via third-round TKO in April 2023.

ONE Friday Fights is ONE Championship’s weekly show featuring fights primarily in the sport of Muay Thai, as well as other combat sports such as mixed martial arts and kickboxing.

Last week’s ONE Friday Fights 34 was headlined by a historic Muay Thai fight between two of the best strikers at the top of their game, as ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo scored a unanimous decision victory over ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

ONE Championship will broadcast another show, ONE Fight Night 14, from the Singapore Indoor Stadium less than 12 hours after the start of ONE Friday Fights 35. ONE Fight Night 14, which features a total of 10 bouts, is headlined by three women’s world title fights.
