Huawei to Drive Digital Transformation, Renewable Energy in Guelmim Oued-Noun

Rabat – Huawei Morocco and the Guelmim Oued-Noun Region have joined forces to accelerate digital transformation initiatives and foster transition to renewable energy sources.

The two parties announced the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)  today in a joint statement, saying that these agreements will pave the way for a “pragmatic partnership” focused on the development of renewable energies and digital transformation.

The partnership demonstrates a shared vision to drive the digital transformation of Morocco’s Guelmim Oued-Noun Region, said the statement.

It added that the partnership aims to bridge the digital divide and facilitate a smooth and measured energy transition. 

In addition, the agreements represent an “efficient fusion of Huawei Morocco’s technological expertise with the progressive vision of the region,” underlined the press release.

Mbarka Bouaida, the President of the Guelmim Oued-Noun Regional Council, said the “alliance represents a measured and pragmatic step towards implementing initiatives that not only propel our region into the future but do so in a manner that respects and honors the realities of the contemporary global technological landscape.”

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Digital Energy at Huawei Morocco Jad Zhao that the partnership aligns with the technology giant’s strategy to support Morocco “towards a digital and sustainable future.”

He added that the two agreements reflect Huawei’s “commitment and confidence in the forward-thinking vision of the Guelmim Oued-Noun Region.”

The statement emphasized that the partnership reflects the two parties’ commitment to launch projects that “embody innovation and progress, with a strong focus on technology transfer, local skill development, and infrastructure enhancement.”

In addition, it reflects their dedication to an “innovative and sustainable future,” as well as reaffirms their determination to collaborate for the socio-economic progress of Moroccan regions, concluded the statement.

Huawei has launched an array of programs and initiatives in Morocco, with the aim of advancing technological landscapes and fostering sustainable development within the country.

Leveraging their expertise and extensive experience, Huawei has introduced innovative projects aimed at promoting digitalization, enhancing connectivity, and fueling the growth of the ICT sector in Morocco. 

These initiatives are designed to empower local communities, nurture talent, and drive economic progress.
